The Mitsubishi Concept-cX is a concept car developed by Japanese automaker Mitsubishi Motors, and first exhibited at the 62nd Frankfurt Motor Show in July 2007.[1][2] It was also exhibited at the 40th Tokyo Motor Show in September the same year.[3]

Designed for the growing mini crossover SUV market niche, promotional material for the car concentrated heavily on its environmentally friendly attributes. It is powered by a 4N13 1.8 litre four cylinder turbodiesel engine, mated to the company's new SST twin-clutch transmission, and meets the Euro V 2009 European emission standards.[4] Much of the interior trim uses Mitsubishi's Green Plastic, a plant-based resin material not derived from petroleum as traditional plastics are.[1]

The new Mitsubishi Prototype S is can trace it genealogy to the original 2005 Concept-Sportback.

Indeed, the prototype remains close to its original inspiration, and closely previews the forthcoming Lancer Sportback.

The new Mitsubishi Prototype S sports a variation of Lancer’s trademark “Jet Fighter” at the front. Other distinguishing features include a Lancer Evolution X style bonnet, Prototype-S specific headlamps and 19” five-spoke alloy wheels.

At the rear, the new Mitsubishi Prototype S follows the same design theme explored with Concept-Sportback with a very fast lift gate finished by Sportback’s trademark colour-keyed roof spoiler.

Its elongated rear combination lamps widen the stance of the car as they wrap around the rear wings.

The new Mitsubishi Prototype S interior displays a very continental flair with its twin-hood meters, the black suede finish of the upper dashboard & door panels and the light brown-coloured leather selected for its upholstery, in a mix of plain, perforated and weaved finish.

When launched later in the year, this 5-door hatchback variant of the new Lancer family will represent 80% of the forecasted Lancer volume in the UK.

The Mitsubishi Mitsubishi Se-Ro is a concept vehicle which combines the modern small car with 50s style. It has the look of a 50s chrome diner on wheels, just not the size.

The polished aluminium body is attractive and unusual without the mirror effect the Se-Ro might be a very different vehicle.

The Se-Ro is powered by a miniscule 0.6 litre in-line 3 cylinder positioned under the floor along with the transmission.

The symetrical exterior design of the Se-Ro continues in the interior in which the seats can be turned to face rearward.

Overall Mitsubishi's small car concept is unique. Intended as a lifestyle car the Se-Ro is relaxed and underpowered for the relaxed and underpaid.

The Mitsubishi Roadster Konzept was one of the entrants into the 2006 Los Angeles Auto show's 'LA Adventure' design competition. A competition in which the participants chose an activity available in the southern California area, and then designed a vehicle for that purpose.

Designed at Mitsubishi Research and Design of North America by Mark Kim, the Mitsubishi Roadster Konzept (MRK) is a hybrid roadster that aims to emulate the stylish lifestyle and image many people associate with California living.

The environmentally friendly hybrid Roadster Konzept is powered by in-wheel electric motors providing 280 hp, and a rear mounted petrol engine making 80 hp. With a total of 360 horsepower available in such a small car the Roadster Konzept would certainly be a rapid little vehicle.

The Mitsubishi Roadster Konzept has two front seats, and two rear rumble seats for short trips, but these can be folded away for more cargo space.

Designed at the Mitsubishi Motors Design Center in Cypress, California, and debuted at the 2006 Detroit Auto Show, the Mitsubishi Concept-CT was a compact 4-door hatchback powered by 4 in-wheel electric motors and a 3 cylinder petrol engine.

The Concept CT was designed to be practical as well as fun, while returning an advantageous mpg. The 4 in-wheel electric motors are powered by batteries located under the rear floor and in the front. The fuel tank for the 1.0 litre, 3 cylinder engine - which drives the rear wheels and acts as a generator for the batteries - is positioned at the front also. Total power for the Concept-CT is 134 horsepower (100 kw).

Inside the Mitsubishi Concept-CT, design of the main controls is influenced by motorcycle forks, and clean simple lines are everywhere. The center console, floating between the front seats, houses a fingerprint reading security system, as well as a computer touch pad interface.

The thin, floating front seats and rear contoured bench seats comfortably accommodate 4 passengers. And the thin cushions and seatbacks increase available interior space.

The Mitsubishi Concept-CT provides a glimpse into the future of hybrid Mitsubishi vehicles incorporating in-wheel electric motors, a production goal Mitsubishi hopes to achieve by 2010.

The Mitsubishi i MIEV is a concept minicar based on the same in-wheel electric motor propulsion found in the Mitsubishi EZ MIEV concept from 2006.

The i MIEV is the sports version of the platform. It features Mitsubishi's S-AWC (Super All Wheel Control). This system combines Active Center Differential (ACD), Active Yaw Control (AYC), Active Stability Control (ASC), and Sports ABS components, with braking force control to improve handling and road holding.

The Mitsubishi EZ MIEV concept uses 4 in-wheel electric motors for power, like the Mitsubishi Concept CT which was shown at the Detroit Motor Show in January 2006.

MIEV stands for - Mitsubishi In-wheel motor Electric Vehicle - and EZ describes the versatile seating arrangement which allows the interior to transform from a space capable of seating 5 adults in a conventional manner, to a circular lounge area complete with flat-screen TV. The passenger seats can also be folded flat into the floor to create a large cargo space.

For a single box city car, the Mitsubishi EZ MIEV is surprisingly attractive, and has managed to escaped the usual gimmicks attached to similar concepts. The in-wheel electric motors are a feature which Mitsubishi hope to put in production cars before 2010. Despite being a reasonably radical design feature they are also extremely practical for this type of car, freeing up space inside the EZ MIEV where the engine and transmission would normally be. And because an electric motor provides 100% of its torque from 0 rpm they are well suited to nippy city driving. Not to mention they are environmentally friendly.

Overall the Mitsubishi EZ MIEV is a semi-radical concept which is well thought out and a real taste of the not-so-distant city car.

The Mitsubishi Eclipse Concept-E seen at the 2004 Detroit Auto Show is a sports coupe which could replace the existing Mitsubishi FTO/Eclipse coupe.
The bubbly styling of the Concept-E gives the car a youthful exuberant look.

The AWD Concept-E hybrid is powered by a 476 bhp 3.8 V6 petrol engine and a 150 kw electric motor working in conjunction, this is a system which Mitsubishi has called 'E-Boost'. The Concept-E gains from the 'E-Boost' an impressive MPG output while maintaining sporting performance.
